The local music scene is heating up—if you’re looking to master the skills needed to cut your own well-recorded album with your bandmates or to be the cool sound guy at gigs, Orita Sinclair’s Diploma in Electro-Sonics is the way to go.
We offer a non-traditional approach to sound education that develops the technical and artistic skills of students and teaches them the intricacies of production and post-production.
The Diploma in Electro-Sonics is an intensive training programme for those serious about an education in audio engineering and music recording. The objective of the programme is to produce well-rounded, professionally trained recording and mixing engineers, music producers and musicians.
As a student of Electro-Sonics, you will learn the mechanics of recording all instruments in the band, factors that determine tonality and how to manipulate these factors to produce the sound you want to record in a diversity of musical styles. You will also be taught how to produce these sounds in any situation – in the professional studio, the live sound stage or club, or even in your home studio. You will learn how to produce professional master recordings with a world class sound.
You will also learn the art of mixing various instruments in different genres ranging from pop to rock, R&B to Heavy Metal, and Jazz to World music, each requiring a different approach and mixing discipline. The programme will equip you with a solid groundwork in audio technology and digital audio concepts. You will also be trained in Pro Tools 9, Logic Pro, Sonar X1 AND Cubase 6 thus making you highly employable to studios using different platforms around the region and the world.
For the musician, you will also learn creative new ways to incorporate digital audio skills into your performance. Armed with advanced recording skills, you will turn every gig into a professional recording session. No longer will you need to clock studio time to record your band’s music. The Diploma in Electro-Sonics will also cover audio post production for video. Students will learn how to produce the soundtrack for video through sound design using sound effects and foley. Students will also learn how to do voiceover recordings in a variety of film styles ranging from action to drama, comedy to animated pictures.
More than just an audio engineering programme, the Diploma in Electro-Sonics also contains a real-world music business module which will cover the inner workings of the music industry such as publishing, A & R, music business operations and music marketing. Through a series of music business projects, you will learn how to release a professional music single/compilation/album, how to design the creative concept for the CD insert, how to design a marketing plan for your release, how to organize gigs and live shows and how to produce a music video in support of your music release.
The Diploma in Electro-Sonics programme equips students with professional skills needed to succeed in the music, film, audio and new media industries. Graduates can look forward to career opportunities in audio post-production, recording studios, music production houses, sound design, live sound, broadcast, radio and television.
