1. Student Orientation
New students must attend the Student Orientation at the commencement of the course.
During this time, students will be welcomed and introduced to the School. They will be briefed on the Student Handbook as well as on all the other documents received at that time.
2. CPE-Approved Student Contract
The EduTrust for Education scheme by the Council for Private Education (CPE) is an assurance that proper systems and practices have been put in place to look after the welfare and interest of students in Singapore.
As part of the EduTrust assurance, all students must enter a standard CPE-approved Student Contract when they enroll for a course.
All students must understand the contents and sign the CPE-approved Student Contract. This contract has been set in place to protect the student.
3. Fee Protection Scheme (FPS)
EduTrust requires all students to be covered under the Fee Protection Scheme. The FPS serves to protect the student’s fees. Tuition fees paid by the students to the School will be left in the custody of the Standard Chartered Bank, an EduTrust-endorsed bank, and protected by the Student Tuition Fee Account (Escrow) scheme.
The School will assist all applicants with the necessary procedures relating to the FPS.
4. Medical Insurance
EduTrust also requires that the students must be covered under a medical insurance coverage for the students? hospitalisation, surgery and treatment costs throughout their course duration.
EduTrust stipulated requirements are:
- annual limit not less than S$20,000.00 medical costs coverage per student;
- at least B2 ward stay(in government and restructured hospitals); and
- 24 hours coverage in Singapore and overseas (if student is involved in school-related activities)
In addition to the above EduTrust requirements, the School’s medical insurance scheme also includes a personal accident rider of up to $20,000.
Students who are Singapore citizens or permanent residents, who are already covered by their own medical insurance plans, may opt out of the medical insurance scheme. However, this is subject to the School’s approval. Students who wish to opt out have to provide the School with a copy of their medical insurance policy/certificate and the School will assess and approve the student’s request to opt out.
5. Student Surveys
Students will evaluate their course in the form of student surveys conducted
- at the commencement of the course
- at end of each term and
- at the end of the course
This will provide the School with valuable feedback for the purposes of ensuring the quality of the course.
6. Academic and Career Counseling
Students should contact the administration office if they require academic counselling or career guidance during their course. An appointment will be made for the student to meet with the Academic Director or a relevant lecturer.
Most of the lecturers are practitioners and are on hand to dispense appropriate and current advice to students. Lecturers are also available to be mentors to the students, upon request. If a mentor is requested by the student, the Academic Director will arrange for a lecturer to be the student’s mentor, taking care to match the student and lecturer-mentor based on the student’s industry interest.
7. Professional Counseling
Professional counselling service is available to all students. If a student wishes to speak to a counsellor, an appointment can be made for him/her through the Administration office.
8. Student Buddy System
On a request-basis, students may be paired up as buddies. If a new student requests for a buddy, the School will pair the new student up with a more senior student who is able to provide guidance on the academic and social aspects of studying in Singapore and at Orita Sinclair.
9. Loaned Equipment
Students are allowed to borrow equipment from the School but must sign out for any equipment they wish to loan.
10. Library
Students may borrow the books in the library for 3 days at a time. All borrowing of books must be reported to the administration office and recorded in the borrowing record book.
