K/9/S Collective Launch Event
9 Fountains has collaborated with Kult and Sifr to create a line of limited edition, super-premium graphic t-shirts.
Orita Sinclair and IS magazine will be sponsoring this massive show of home-grown fellowship to be held at Black Market 2.
The K/9/S collection consists of fifteen Singapore based designs handpicked from the range of international artwork in Kult Magazine’s “Animals” issue.
The issue–and resulting t-shirt collection–is full of facts about animals, visualized by some of the most exciting artists working in the world today. The Kult artwork is intended to “create a stronger bond between man and animal by increasing understanding” while the selections shine a spotlight on the thriving but oftentimes subterranean local art community in Singapore. This limited edition run (40 per design) will also showcase Sifr’s premium pima cotton t-shirts and 9 Fountains’ highly-detailed and vivid printing.
On October 6th, the exclusive launch party will give attendees the chance to meet the artists and experience the artwork/ collection for the first time.
A special pre-order sale will take place on-line at 9fountains.com from September 15th-30th where consumers can reserve the t-shirt of their choosing at a discounted price, with the first 50 customers receiving a special invitation to the launch event.
See you there!

Orita Sinclair Music Recording Workshop 2- Live Studio Recording
This free workshop will explore the proper procedure for recording the live performance of a song by several musicians simultaneously. Sometimes recording one instrument at a time fits the style of music better whereas other times, recording the musicians simultaneously is preferred. This workshop is a demonstration of the latter, for instances where it is desirable to capture not just sound but the performance as well.
Participants will get a chance to record alongside the session musicians and learn the creative process involved in live studio recording.

Open House – Friday, 8th April 2011
Orita Sinclair School of Design, New Media & the Arts had an OPEN HOUSE on the 8th of April, 2011. We had a great line up of speakers who presented and spoke to prospective students who were here. Our academic director, Desmond Seetoh, gave an overview of the school, before introducing the rest of our speakers – Justin Lee (Lecturer for Acting), Rizal Hefni (Head of Electro-Sonics), Eitan Schalks (our very own Design Communication student) and Farizwan Fajari (Lecturer for Drawing).
Visitors were eager to check out our new iMac lab, which was recently furnished with brand new iMacs! They were also given a copy of our new prospectus (very, very cool – comes in a Ziploc bag!) as well as one of our limited edition tote bags (there were only 50 to give away)! On top of that, our Head of Electro-Sonics did a live recording demo and enraptured all of us with his amazing performance.
For those of you who missed out on all the fun, well there’s always a next time, so be sure to come by!
The Straits Sound System on the terrace at Orita Sinclair!
Playing for 4 solid hours, the Straits Sound System laid down the best of Jamaica, from jump up ska, rolling rocksteady, deep roots, skanking dub and the perfect island beat. Great set-up for a couple of sundowners.
