Registered as a Foreign Lawyer, Law Society of Hong Kong Special

Samuel Seow’s expertise and forte is in the field of intellectual property with a special focus on the application of these laws to the entertainment, arts and media industries. A much recognised name in these industries, he represents a wide range of authors and businesses including: film, television and record producers and production houses, actors, screenwriters, management agencies, television, film and music personalities, models, artistes as well as both established and developing theatre companies.

As the resident legal counsel for the Screenwriters Association (Singapore), he was instrumental in establishing and now administers the functions of the Asian Script Repository – Asia’s first copyright registration service.

He is a much sought-after speaker by government bodies and industry associations on intellectual property rights issues and is listed as a consultant in the media industries by the Asia Pacific Legal 500. In 2004, he was described by the Asian Legal Business publication as a “mover and shaker” in the Singapore legal industry.

In 2006 the local press quite aptly dubbed this “celebrity lawyer” as a professional with a “lawyer’s head but an artist’s heart”. Samuel wishes he had more time to indulge his musical passions, but in light of his current work schedule music has been left largely on the backburner. In his youth he had won the National Local Song Talentime two years in a row and was lauded for his musical abilities, which, now find expression only in church on Sundays…
