Students and lecturers of Orita.Sinclair - School of Art and New Media developed the culture of permanent research and testing of New Media Art tools and related information. We appreciate the powerful software packages that are industry standards but we are also ultimately supportive of every possible creative tool developed by small companies, enthusiastic groups and individuals.

We also fully understand that is not only the tools that makes the professional expertise in the field of New Media Art. Every source of information counts and contributes to the lateral approach in developing creativity.

At the same time we will review useful links to art institutions, artists personal web pages, resources, publishers, galleries and post them as well.

Software

Blender is the open source software for 3D modeling, animation, rendering, post-production, interactive creation and playback. Available for all major operating systems under the GNU Public License... real helper and "full blood" 3D software - must try!.

The GIMP is the GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed piece of software for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. It works on many operating systems, in many languages,good deal of plugins.... great help for students - must try!

Audacity is free, open source software for recording and editing sounds. It is available for Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, GNU/Linux, and other operating systems. Great start and much more than that in audio processing - must try!

MonkeyJam is a digital penciltest program. It is designed to let you capture images from a webcam, camcorder, or scanner and assemble them as separate frames of an animation. Give a test drive!
